General Product Safety Regulations (GPSR) Compliance Statement
I take my responsibility as a ceramic artist seriously and continually review my materials and processes to ensure they align with best practices in product safety.
At Moneyvart Ceramics, I am committed to ensuring that all my ceramic pieces meet the highest standards of quality and safety. As an independent ceramic artist, I strive to comply with the Food Contact Materials - Regulation (EC) 1935/2004 & General Product Safety Regulations (GPSR) 2024 to the best of my ability.
Product Safety Measures
- Materials: All my ceramics are made using high-quality clay and glazes that are purchased from reputable UK suppliers and are suitable for their intended use.
- Food Safety: Any ceramic piece intended for food or drink use is made with food-safe glazes. If an item is decorative and not intended for food use, this will be clearly stated in the product description.
- Durability: My ceramics are fired to the appropriate temperatures to ensure strength and durability. While ceramics can be fragile, I provide care instructions to help prolong the lifespan of each piece. I use pyrometric testing to ensure the final product has the correct properties and durability.
- Labelling and Information: Each product listing includes details about materials, dimensions, and care instructions. If any specific precautions apply, they will be noted in the description.
- Production Process: I use pyrometric cones during each firing to ensure my kiln reaches the correct temperature for maturing my ceramics. Since different clay bodies and glazes mature at specific temperature ranges, working within the correct parameters is crucial for both durability and safety—especially if you’re considering food-safe pieces. By keeping your firings within the correct parameters, you ensure your ceramics are structurally sound, functional, and safe for their intended use. Pairing it with well-matured, food-safe glazes ensures no leaching or absorption issues.
- Testing : I test my glazes for stability after firing to ensure they are food-safe. This includes checking for crazing, durability, and acid resistance to prevent any potential leaching or absorption issues.
Customer Safety & Satisfaction
- Clear Communication: I provide accurate descriptions and photographs to ensure you know exactly what you're purchasing.
- Returns & Refunds: If a product arrives damaged or does not meet your expectations, please refer to my Returns Policy for details on how to proceed.
- Contact for Concerns: If you have any safety concerns or questions about a product, please feel free to contact me at moneyvartceramics@gmail.com.
Caring for Your Ceramic Pieces
- Handmade ceramics are crafted with care and are designed to be both functional and beautiful. To keep your pieces looking their best for years to come, I recommend hand washing whenever possible. While my functional ceramics are considered dishwasher-friendly, I am unable to lab-test each batch to certify them as completely dishwasher-safe.
- Handmade ceramics should not be put in the microwave unless they are specifically labelled as microwave-safe. Many handmade pieces contain materials or glazes that may absorb moisture, heat unevenly, or even crack due to thermal shock. Some glazes may also contain metal oxides that can cause sparking or damage.
- Dishwashers use high temperatures and strong detergents, which may, over time, affect the surface of handmade ceramics—especially those with delicate glazes or textured finishes. For longevity, gentle hand washing with warm, soapy water is always the best option.
- Avoid sudden temperature changes, as extreme heat or cold can cause thermal shock and lead to cracks.
By handling your ceramics with care, you’ll preserve their unique character and craftsmanship for years to come.
Thank you for supporting handmade ceramics!
